Responsibilities
- Develop and design electric vehicle motor drive systems, optimizing energy efficiency, size, and cost from initial concept to full production.
- Research and select technologies in areas like power electronics,sensing, MCUs, new circuit topologies, PCB manufacturing, thermal management, insulation, EMC, and electrical interconnections to ensurethe best solutions for each project.
- Participate in DFMEA analysis, testing, and validation for custom PCBA and full system architectures, ensuring product safety and reliability.
- Perform functional and safety validation of electrical systems in electric vehicles, analyzing fault management architectures, power generation,
and distribution systems. - Oversee the full product lifecycle from design to production, including DFM (Design for Manufacturing), cost optimization, and efficiency
improvements. - Refine test methodologies and validation procedures to improve design and testing efficiency.
- Collaborate with certification bodies to ensure product compliance with various electrical safety regulations and meet required safety standards
(e.g., ISO 16750-2, ISO 21780, ISO 26262). - Validate thermal, EMC, and power performance, conducting stress testing to verify stability in critical circuit sections.
- Troubleshoot electrical system issues through root cause analysis (RCA), implementing solutions for continuous improvement.
- Work closely with firmware, mechanical, EMC, and system engineering teams to optimize the overall system performance.
- Manage supply chain qualifications and controls.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field(or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of hardware development experience, ideally in the automotive,aerospace, or related industries.
- 2+ years of experience with PCBAs, wiring harnesses, power distribution units, power supplies, and automotive subcomponents.
- Experience designing and implementing motor drive system circuits,including power devices, SPS, and mixed analog/digital circuits.
- Familiarity with hardware buses such as I2C, CAN, SPI, and Ethernet.
- Experience with automotive certification processes and regulations.
- Knowledge of power supply systems, motor drive circuits, and communication systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document complex designs clearly and concisely.
- A passion for vehicles and the role they can play in shaping the future.
- Expected skills: design calculations, schematic and layout design,DFMEA, PFMEA, Spice, and circuit simulation.
- Bonus skills: thermal analysis, Ansys Q3D simulation, motor design, MCU coding, and power module design experience.
