Summary
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the PC components and system engineering team, responsible for the mechanical design and development of innovative products such as PC cases, power supply enclosures, and electro-mechanical structures. The ideal candidate has strong experience in mass-produced consumer electronics or PC hardware, excellent problem-solving abilities, and solid knowledge of mechanical design best practices.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate new product concepts with the ID team through sketches, 3D models, prototypes, and requirement documents.
- Perform mechanical design and engineering from concept to production.
- Create practical and innovative solutions to mechanical design challenges.
- Collaborate with product teams and factories to prepare prototypes and engineering documentation.
- Deliver mechanical designs on schedule, aligned with product development timelines.
- Conduct mechanical tests, stress/strain analysis, motion studies, and design validation with Quality Engineering.
- Track advancements in materials, processing technologies, and electro-mechanical mechanisms.
- Prepare final manufacturing-intent designs and support DFM activities.
- Support quality, product, and manufacturing teams across the full product lifecycle to solve issues, improve quality, and reduce cost.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design for consumer electronics or PC hardware.
- Proficient with 3D CAD software (Creo preferred; SolidWorks acceptable).
- Strong understanding of GD&T, mechanical stack-up, and PC industry standards.
- Experience with sheet metal design, plastics, die-casting, and mechanical assembly.
- Familiar with DFM/DFA and mass-production considerations.
- Ability to conduct tolerance analysis, structural analysis, and basic optical/mechanical simulation (FEA is a plus).
- Knowledge of Asia-based suppliers (Taiwan / China) preferred.
