Job Summary
The Process Engineer will be responsible for developing and optimizing sheet metal manufacturing processes, supporting both NPI and mass production.
This role requires hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication, process planning, tooling design, and production troubleshooting, ensuring efficient, high-quality, and scalable manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize sheet metal fabrication processes, including cutting, bending, forming, welding, and finishing
- Define best manufacturing methods and prepare bending layouts, part unfolding, and fabrication details
- Perform nesting and CAM programming for sheet metal and tube components
- Create and manage BOM, routing, and inventory structures within ERP systems
- Design and develop tooling, jigs, and fixtures for complex sheet metal parts
- Support NPI builds, ensuring smooth transition from prototype to mass production
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement solutions to improve yield and efficiency
- Work closely with engineers, technicians, and production teams to ensure manufacturability
- Prepare process documentation such as work instructions (WI) and assembly guidelines
- Provide hands-on support on shop floor when required
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
- 3–5 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication or manufacturing process engineering
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal processes including laser cutting, bending, welding, and surface finishing
- Familiar with CAD tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks and CAM software
- Experience in process planning, tooling design, and production support
- Understanding of sheet metal materials (steel, aluminum, stainless steel) and their properties
- Experience working with fabrication equipment such as press brakes, laser cutters, and punching machines
- Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on troubleshooting ability
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., BOM, routing management)
- Experience supporting NPI and mass production ramp
- Knowledge of quality control standards and tolerance management
- Experience in data center, server, or industrial equipment manufacturing
