Job Summary
The Back-end Test Equipment Service Engineer will be responsible for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and customer support for semiconductor back-end test-related equipment, especially probe / wafer test equipment.
This role requires hands-on equipment service capability, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently at customer sites. The engineer will report to overseas management and act as the local technical representative in Taiwan.
Responsibilities
- Support installation, setup, calibration, and acceptance of semiconductor back-end test equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and performance optimization at customer fabs
- Diagnose equipment issues related to mechanical modules, electrical systems, motion control, alignment, and wafer handling
- Support probe-related equipment operation, including tester connection, wafer alignment, and contact-related issue analysis
- Work closely with customer engineers to resolve equipment downtime and production issues
- Escalate technical issues to overseas engineering teams and follow up on corrective actions
- Prepare service reports, maintenance records, issue logs, and technical documentation
- Manage spare parts, tools, and service resources required for customer support
- Support on-call or fab schedule requirements when needed
- Maintain strong customer relationships through timely response and professional communication
Requirements
- Associate degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related fields
- Experience in semiconductor equipment installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting
- Familiar with customer fab environments and equipment service workflows
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems, electrical control, motion control, sensors, and pneumatic systems
- Able to work independently and manage customer site issues with limited supervision
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Mandarin communication is required; English is required for reporting and communication with overseas teams
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with semiconductor probe equipment, test handler, wafer test, or back-end test equipment
- Experience from equipment vendors such as Advantest, Teradyne, TEL, KLA, AMAT, ASMPT, or similar companies
- Experience working with memory, OSAT, foundry, or wafer test customers
- Korean language ability is a plus
- Experience supporting on-call, customer escalation, or high-pressure production environments
