Our client is an established technology company specializing in industrial computing and embedded hardware solutions.
The Taiwan R&D team develops x86-based industrial computing platforms and related hardware products for professional and industrial applications. The team is looking for an experienced Hardware Engineer who can independently own motherboard design, bring-up, validation, and technical problem solving.
Job Summary
The Senior Hardware Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of x86-based IPC hardware platforms.
You will own board-level hardware development from circuit design and component selection through PCB implementation, bring-up, signal measurement, debugging, and design verification.
This role is suitable for a senior hardware engineer with strong x86 motherboard design experience and the ability to independently analyze and resolve complex system-level hardware issues.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop electronic circuits for x86-based IPC and industrial computing products.
- Own motherboard and board-level hardware design from concept through validation.
- Define system architecture and select key components and peripheral devices.
- Perform schematic design using OrCAD Capture.
- Work closely with PCB Layout engineers and review layout implementation using Cadence Allegro.
- Support CPU, memory, storage, I/O, power, and peripheral subsystem integration.
- Perform board bring-up, signal measurement, and functional verification.
- Debug hardware issues and identify root causes at board and system level.
- Prepare technical analysis and issue-resolution reports.
- Execute signal measurement and design validation using laboratory equipment.
- Collaborate with BIOS, Firmware, Mechanical, Thermal, EMC, and manufacturing teams.
- Support design optimization for product quality, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.
- Participate in engineering design reviews and continuous product improvement.
Requirements
- Associate degree, Bachelor’s degree, or above in Electrical Engineering,
- Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of x86 hardware R&D experience.
- Strong experience with motherboard or system board design.
- Proficient with OrCAD Capture and Cadence Allegro.
- Strong understanding of digital and analog circuit design.
- Experience selecting and integrating board-level electronic components.
- Strong board bring-up, debugging, and root-cause-analysis capability.
- Ability to independently analyze complex hardware issues.
- Familiarity with PCB design and layout considerations.
- Strong cross-functional communication and coordination skills.
- Strong quality and cost awareness.
- Proactive, hands-on, and detail-oriented working style.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in IPC, industrial computer, embedded computing, notebook, server, or similar x86 system products.
- Experience working in OEM / ODM system companies.
- Familiarity with Intel or AMD x86 platforms.
- Experience with DDR, PCIe, USB, SATA, Ethernet, display interfaces, or other high-speed interfaces.
- Understanding of SI / PI, EMI / EMC, and power integrity considerations.
- Experience with DC/DC power architecture and motherboard power design.
- Familiarity with BIOS / UEFI interaction and system-level debugging.
- Experience taking products from schematic design through EVT / DVT / PVT and mass production.
- Experience working with PCB, PCBA, and manufacturing partners.
