This role works closely with both Japan HQ engineering teams and Taiwan customers, contributing directly to product adoption, application development, and next-generation power architecture innovation.
Job Summary
The Power Application Engineer will work closely with customers to promote and support the adoption of advanced power semiconductor solutions, including GaN, SiC, and power management ICs.
This role requires strong hands-on experience in power supply design, particularly high-power applications using topologies such as PFC and LLC, and the ability to translate device capabilities into real system-level designs.
The engineer will collaborate with global R&D teams and local customers to demonstrate product performance, solve application challenges, and support next-generation power architecture development.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with customers to support the design-in and adoption of advanced power semiconductor devices and IC solutions.
- Provide technical consultation on next-generation power architectures and system-level power design.
- Design and build power supply reference designs and evaluation platforms to demonstrate device performance.
- Analyze and compare device performance against competitive solutions and provide technical feedback to R&D teams.
- Collaborate with Japan HQ engineering teams to address customer technical issues and drive product improvements.
- Support technical marketing activities such as industry exhibitions, conferences, and technical seminars.
- Provide application-level insights to strengthen product competitiveness and expand market adoption.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related fields.
- 5+ years of experience in power supply design or power electronics development.
- Strong hands-on experience with PFC and LLC power topologies.
- Experience designing or commercializing power supplies in 1kW+ power systems.
- Familiar with component selection, circuit design, and power system optimization.
- Experience solving customer design challenges and improving system performance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Business-level English communication skills for collaboration with global teams.
Qualifications
- Experience working with GaN or SiC power devices.
- Experience publishing technical papers or filing patents related to power electronics.
- Experience working with international engineering teams.
- Japanese language capability is a plus.
