Job Summary
The Field Application Engineer is responsible for providing high-level technical support to customers across the full product lifecycle — from pre-sales design-in through mass production and post-sales issue resolution.
This role combines embedded software, RF systems, GNSS knowledge, and customer-facing engineering, with strong interaction across sales, product management, and R&D teams globally.
The primary objective is to minimize design-in time, accelerate customer integration, and ensure high satisfaction through proactive technical engagement.
Responsibilities
- Provide pre-sales technical consultation and system-level support during customer design-in phase
- Assist customers in hardware integration, firmware adaptation, and system validation
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues related to RF systems, GNSS positioning, and embedded platforms
- Analyze returned materials (RMA cases) and coordinate corrective actions with HQ R&D teams
- Conduct lab analysis and performance validation in local laboratory environment
- Deliver technical training to customers, distributors, and internal sales teams
- Collect and communicate market feedback to R&D and Product Management
- Support occasional competitive technical analysis
- Maintain and manage local lab infrastructure
- Escalate technical issues appropriately while maintaining customer satisfaction
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field
- Several years of experience in at least two of the following areas:
- Embedded software development
- Hardware engineering
- RF systems
- GNSS / GPS technologies
- Minimum 2 years in technical customer support or FAE role
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Comfortable handling customer escalations and challenging situations
- Fluent in Mandarin and English (reading & writing proficiency required)
- Willingness to travel domestically and occasionally abroad
Ideal Background
- Experience with GNSS modules, cellular modules, or wireless SoC platforms
- Experience supporting IoT, automotive, or industrial customers
- Familiar with UART, SPI, I2C interfaces and embedded debugging tools
- Experience working with global engineering teams
