The Fan Development Engineer will be responsible for leading the architecture, design, and validation of cooling fans for PC cases and thermal solutions. This role requires strong mechanical and fluid dynamics expertise, as well as the ability to collaborate closely with ODM partners and internal cross-functional teams (ID, ME, FW, and PM) to deliver optimized thermal performance and acoustic characteristics.
Responsibilities
- Lead and define fan development architecture and product roadmap.
- Partner with Product Management to align fan specifications with system-level requirements.
- Optimize fan performance and acoustic characteristics through design and testing.
- Research and evaluate new fan technologies and mechanical structures.
- Plan and manage development schedules to meet time-to-market, cost, and quality targets.
- Work with validation and lab teams to analyze performance data and resolve quality or design issues.
- Develop and review technical documents including product specifications, validation reports, and test procedures.
- Collaborate with ODM fan suppliers to ensure design execution and production readiness.
- Provide failure analysis and improvement feedback from production and customer feedback loops.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging cooling technologies and industry trends.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of direct experience in fan or DC motor design; minimum 3 years in consumer electronics preferred.
- Deep understanding of motor structure, aerodynamics, and noise optimization.
- Proficient with CFD simulation software and 3D CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks preferred).
- Familiar with fan manufacturing processes and reliability validation.
- Strong communication and project management skills; able to work with internal and external stakeholders.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of fluid dynamics, vibration control, and airflow simulation.
- Experience working with ODMs on custom fan or cooling module designs.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and prepare detailed technical reports.
- Hands-on experience with prototype validation and lab testing instruments.
