Job Summary
The Senior Hardware Design Engineer will lead the development of complex electrical and hardware systems for next-generation data center platforms.
This is a senior individual-contributor role with strong technical ownership. You will be responsible for translating customer requirements into hardware solutions, developing schematics and system specifications, validating designs, solving complex technical issues, and supporting products through manufacturing.
The role also acts as a technical leader within the engineering team, providing design direction, reviewing technical solutions, and mentoring other engineers.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of electrical and hardware solutions for complex computing systems.
- Translate customer requirements and system specifications into practical hardware architectures.
- Develop schematics, BOMs, design documents, diagrams, and engineering specifications.
- Review and provide technical feedback on customer requirements and product specifications.
- Perform hardware design, simulation, measurement, validation, and qualification.
- Troubleshoot complex board-level and system-level hardware issues.
- Analyze test data and recommend design improvements.
- Lead design reviews and provide technical direction to engineering teams.
- Act as a technical subject-matter expert and key escalation point for complex hardware issues.
- Work closely with System Architecture, Firmware, Software, Mechanical, Thermal, Validation, and Manufacturing teams.
- Incorporate feedback from DFM, test, reliability, supply chain, and manufacturing into product design.
- Support new product introduction and manufacturing ramp.
- Work with suppliers and key technology partners on component selection and technical issues.
- Support project planning, technical risk assessment, and engineering schedule execution.
- Develop technical reports, design documentation, and engineering recommendations.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote hardware design best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of hardware or electrical design experience.
- Strong experience in board-level electronic design and hardware system development.
- Ability to independently develop and review schematics.
- Strong understanding of digital, analog, and power circuit fundamentals.
- Experience with hardware bring-up, testing, measurement, and validation.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis capability.
- Ability to understand complex system requirements and translate them into hardware solutions.
- Experience working in cross-functional product-development teams.
- Strong technical communication and documentation skills.
- Good English communication skills for global customer and engineering collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with server, storage, networking, AI infrastructure, or data center hardware.
- Experience with x86 or high-performance computing platforms.
- Familiarity with high-speed interfaces such as:
- Understanding of high-speed PCB design, Signal Integrity, and Power Integrity.
- Experience with CPU / GPU / BMC / CPLD / FPGA-based system architectures.
- Familiarity with power architecture, VR design, and board-level power distribution.
- Experience with schematic tools such as OrCAD, Cadence, or equivalent.
- Experience supporting EVT / DVT / PVT and mass-production ramps.
- Familiarity with DFM, DFT, DFA, reliability, and manufacturing requirements.
- Experience working directly with global customers, suppliers, or ODM / EMS partners.
- Experience mentoring engineers or acting as a project technical lead.
