Company Overview
Our client is a global technology company specializing in rugged computing, mobile computing, and integrated hardware solutions.
The Taiwan R&D team develops notebook, tablet, and video-related hardware platforms and is looking for a PCB Layout Engineer to support complex board-level development and high-quality product design.
Job Summary
The PCB Layout Engineer will be responsible for PCB placement and routing for notebook, tablet, and video system products.
You will work closely with Hardware, Mechanical, RF, EMC, and Power engineers to translate electrical and system requirements into manufacturable PCB designs, covering layout planning, routing, design-rule implementation, and Gerber release.
This role is suitable for engineers who already have hands-on Cadence Allegro experience and want to deepen their capability in system-level PCB layout.
Responsibilities
- Perform PCB layout design for notebook, tablet, and video system products.
- Conduct PCB placement feasibility studies and board floorplanning.
- Complete component placement, signal routing, power routing, and final Gerber output.
- Work closely with Hardware Engineers to understand schematic design and electrical requirements.
- Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers on board outline, component height, connector location, and mechanical constraints.
- Coordinate with RF Engineers on RF routing and layout requirements.
- Work with EMC / EMI Engineers to optimize routing for electromagnetic compatibility.
- Collaborate with Power Engineers to define power-plane and high-current routing requirements.
- Implement PCB design rules covering signal, power, EMI, spacing, and manufacturing constraints.
- Maintain and create PCB component footprints and libraries when required.
- Perform layout design reviews and support PCB issue troubleshooting.
- Ensure PCB designs meet fabrication, assembly, and DFM requirements.
- Prepare manufacturing files and support PCB fabrication / PCBA release.
Requirements
- Associate degree, Bachelor’s degree, or above in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- 1+ years of PCB layout experience.
- Hands-on experience with Cadence Allegro, preferably version 17.4 or later.
- Ability to independently complete PCB layout from schematic input through Gerber release.
- Good understanding of PCB fabrication and PCBA manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with power-routing and EMI / EMC layout guidelines.
- Ability to read and understand electronic schematics.
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and responsible working style.
- Intermediate English communication ability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with notebook, tablet, embedded computing, or video-related products.
- Experience independently handling complete PCB layout projects.
- Experience creating and maintaining PCB footprints and component libraries.
- Familiarity with high-speed digital interfaces and corresponding routing constraints.
- Understanding of differential-pair routing, impedance control, length matching, and layer-stack planning.
- Exposure to DDR, PCIe, USB, HDMI, MIPI, Ethernet, or similar high-speed interfaces.
- Understanding of SI / PI fundamentals.
- Familiarity with RF layout considerations.
- Experience working with complex multi-layer PCB designs.
