Responsibilities
- Spearhead the design and development of electric vehicle motor drive systems, focusing on energy efficiency, cost optimization, and compactness from concept to full-scale production.
- Oversee the selection and integration of technologies in power electronics, MCUs, sensors, PCB manufacturing, thermal management, and electrical interconnections to provide best-fit solutions for each project.
- Perform DFMEA analysis and lead testing and validation processes for custom PCBAs and vehicle system architectures, ensuring reliability and
safety. - Manage functional and safety validation of vehicle electronics, analyzing power generation, fault management, and power distribution systems.
- Ensure seamless product lifecycle management, from design to production, incorporating DFM principles, cost reductions, and process
improvements. - Collaborate with external certification bodies to ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations such as ISO 16750-2, ISO 26262, and others.
- Lead efforts in root cause analysis (RCA) for electrical system issues and drive continuous improvement solutions.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their technical development and growth.
- Work in close collaboration with firmware, mechanical, EMC, and systems teams to optimize system performance across all stages.
- Support supply chain qualification and control to maintain product quality.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience in hardware development, preferably in automotive, aerospace, or a related industry.
- 5+ years working with automotive subcomponents such as PCBA,Harnesses, Power Distribution Units, and Power Supplies.
- Proven track record of taking automotive motor drive systems from concept through to high-volume production.
- Experience in designing and implementing motor drive system circuits, including power devices, SPS, and mixed analog/digital circuits.
- Proficiency in implementing low-level hardware buses (I2C, CAN, SPI,Ethernet).
- Experience in automotive regulation certification and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of power supply systems, mixed analog and digital circuits, and motor drive systems.
- Expertise in DFMEA, DFM, failure analysis, and testing procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, including writing clear and concise technical documentation.
- Passionate about vehicles and their role in advancing technology.
- International supply chain experience is a plus.
- Additional skills (a plus): Thermal analysis, Ansys Q3D simulation, motor design, MCU coding, power module design.
