Job Summary
The Process Development Engineer will be responsible for manufacturing process development, process validation, production optimization, and technical problem-solving across advanced manufacturing operations.
The engineer will work closely with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and automation teams to establish stable production processes, improve manufacturing efficiency, and support new product introduction (NPI) activities.
Depending on business needs and candidate background, the role may support either AI Server platforms or next-generation CPO (Co-Packaged Optics) products.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for new product introduction and mass production
- Conduct process validation, qualification, and engineering experiments
- Analyze production issues and implement corrective actions to improve yield and efficiency
- Establish process specifications, SOPs, and manufacturing documentation
- Evaluate manufacturing resources including tooling, fixtures, consumables, and equipment
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, automation, and product engineering teams
- Drive continuous improvement projects related to productivity, quality, and cost reduction
- Support manufacturing ramp-up activities at China and overseas production sites
- Transfer process know-how and provide technical guidance to manufacturing teams
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Optical Engineering, or related fields
- 6+ years of manufacturing or process engineering experience
- Experience in one or more of the following processes:
- CNC machining
- Polishing / Grinding
- Surface treatment
- Precision cleaning
- Dispensing
- Bonding / Lamination
- Optical or precision assembly processes
- Strong engineering problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
- Good English communication ability for multinational collaboration
- Willingness to travel frequently to Chennai, India
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in AI Server manufacturing
- Experience in Optical Module, Silicon Photonics, or CPO manufacturing
- Experience in semiconductor, optics, or precision manufacturing industries
- Familiarity with NPI, DOE, SPC, PFMEA, and process qualification methodologies
- Experience supporting overseas factory ramp-up activities
