Job Summary
The Field Applications Engineer will serve as a key technical interface for leading cloud service providers, server OEMs, and networking customers.
You will understand customer system requirements, recommend appropriate connectivity solutions, and provide hands-on support throughout design-in, silicon/system bring-up, validation, debugging, and production deployment.
This is a highly technical, customer-facing role requiring strong expertise in PCIe, Ethernet, high-speed board design, system-level debugging, and data center platforms.
Responsibilities
- Support cloud service providers, server OEMs, and networking customers throughout product design-in and system integration.
- Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable semiconductor connectivity solutions.
- Provide hands-on support for silicon bring-up, board bring-up, and system-level debugging.
- Troubleshoot PCIe, Ethernet, SerDes, and other high-speed connectivity issues.
- Analyze issues across silicon, PCB hardware, firmware, drivers, BIOS, and system environments.
- Use protocol analyzers, traffic generators, high-speed oscilloscopes, and other lab equipment for validation and debugging.
- Support high-speed link optimization and system validation using Python-based automation.
- Debug embedded firmware at the SerDes / SoC or MCU level when required.
- Work closely with internal product, firmware, validation, and engineering teams to drive customer issue resolution.
- Translate customer feedback and technical requirements into product improvements and roadmap inputs.
- Conduct technical reviews, customer discussions, and onsite system bring-up activities.
- Travel within Asia and occasionally to North America based on customer needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience supporting complex SoC or semiconductor products for Server, Storage, or Networking applications.
- Experience working directly with cloud service providers, server OEMs, or networking customers.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of PCIe and Ethernet.
- Experience with silicon bring-up, system bring-up, and customer-system debugging.
- Strong understanding of high-speed board design techniques.
- Familiarity with data center platforms including servers, JBOG/JBOD, networking switches, and routers.
- Hands-on experience with protocol analyzers, traffic generators, and high-speed oscilloscopes.
- Intermediate Python skills for system validation automation and link optimization.
- Ability to debug embedded firmware at the SerDes / SoC or MCU level.
- Strong customer-facing communication and problem-solving capability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of high-speed interfaces at the Physical Layer level.
- Experience with at least 12G NRZ, with 25G NRZ or 56G PAM4 preferred.
- Experience developing or supporting PCIe ICs, switches, retimers, or
- related connectivity products.
- Familiarity with PCIe compliance, interoperability, and link-debug methodology.
- Experience debugging or developing embedded firmware, drivers, and BIOS using PCIe technology.
- Knowledge of SerDes, equalization, signal integrity, and link training.
- Experience supporting hyperscalers or Tier-1 server and networking OEMs.
