Company Overview
Our client is an early-stage nanotechnology company developing advanced nanobubble systems for industrial and water-related applications.
The company integrates fluid systems, mechanical engineering, embedded electronics, industrial controls, and IoT technologies into production-ready hardware platforms. As the business scales from prototype development toward commercial deployment, the engineering team is expanding its core hardware and system integration capabilities in Taiwan.
Job Summary
The Hardware System Engineer will own the hardware and embedded system architecture of the company’s industrial products, covering custom PCB design, embedded computing platforms, industrial electrical systems, firmware integration, and IoT connectivity.
This is a hands-on system engineering role that sits across the boundaries of hardware, firmware, controls, and physical equipment.
You will be responsible for turning product requirements into complete system-level solutions, integrating electronics, sensors, actuators, power systems, and embedded software into reliable production-ready hardware.
Responsibilities
- Define and develop system-level hardware architecture for industrial products.
- Design and bring up custom embedded PCBs using SoMs, MCUs, or mixed-signal architectures.
- Select processors, microcontrollers, sensors, communication interfaces, and key electronic components.
- Design power distribution, I/O protection, signal interfaces, and embedded control hardware.
- Perform board bring-up, hardware debugging, validation, and system-level troubleshooting.
- Work closely with firmware teams to integrate control logic, state machines, sensors, actuators, and communication layers.
- Develop or support embedded software using Python and/or C/C++ when required.
- Integrate Linux-based application platforms with MCU-based I/O and control subsystems.
- Implement or support IoT communication for remote monitoring, configuration, diagnostics, and telemetry.
- Integrate industrial protocols such as MQTT, Modbus, RS-485, WebSockets, or related technologies.
- Design and integrate industrial electrical systems including 3-phase AC distribution, VFD motor control, DC power, and safety interlocks.
- Support wiring, commissioning, and troubleshooting of industrial control cabinets.
- Integrate pumps, motors, valves, sensors, flow controllers, and other physical subsystems.
- Collaborate closely with Mechanical, Firmware, Controls, Fluid Systems, and Manufacturing teams.
- Work with external PCBA suppliers and manufacturing partners to support DFM and production readiness.
- Support prototype builds, system validation, field testing, and product transition to manufacturing.
- Evaluate new embedded platforms, sensors, communication technologies, and control architectures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related discipline.
- 4+ years of experience in hardware system design, embedded systems, industrial automation, or complex hardware product development.
- Hands-on experience designing and bringing up custom PCBs.
- Experience with SoM-based, MCU-based, or mixed-signal hardware systems.
- Proficiency with Altium Designer, KiCad, or equivalent PCB design tools.
- Strong understanding of digital, analog, power, and I/O interface design.
- Experience with embedded Linux and/or microcontroller-based systems.
- Working knowledge of Python and/or C/C++.
- Experience integrating sensors, actuators, motors, and control hardware.
- Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, 3-phase power, and VFDs.
- Strong hardware debugging and system-level problem-solving capability.
- Professional proficiency in Mandarin and English.
- Valid Taiwan work authorization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing complete hardware systems from prototype through production.
- Experience with SoM, SBC, ARM, or Embedded Linux platforms.
- Experience integrating MCU-based control layers with Linux application systems.
- Familiarity with MQTT, Modbus, RS-485, WebSockets, CAN, or other industrial communication protocols.
- Experience with external PCBA or contract manufacturing partners.
- Familiarity with DFM, DFT, board bring-up, and manufacturing test.
- Experience with pumps, motors, valves, sensors, and fluid-control equipment.
- Knowledge of relays, contactors, emergency-stop circuits, and industrial safety systems.
- Experience with IoT telemetry, remote diagnostics, OTA updates, or cloud-connected hardware.
- Experience designing industrial, outdoor-rated, or IP65/IP67 systems.
- Startup or small-team experience.
